The Nd range has already been a major success for Rega. Since launching in 2024, over 35,000 cartridges have been sold, and the Nd7 quickly became a popular choice thanks to its strong specification and price point. The Nd9 now sits at the top of that range, bringing further improvements while keeping the same focus on performance and value.
Designed as Rega’s Flagship Moving-Magnet Cartridge
The Nd9 builds on the design of the Nd7 but introduces a boron cantilever, a component normally reserved for Rega’s flagship Aphelion 2 cartridge. Integrating this into the Nd generator required a new ultra-fine connecting tube, developed with the help of a watchmaker, to join the two parts together precisely.
The cartridge uses Rega’s neodymium magnet generator assembly, with miniaturised parallel coils wound in-house using extremely fine 38-micron wire. This low-inductance, low-impedance design improves high-frequency response and allows the cartridge to react quickly to changes in the record surface.

When installed on a Rega Planar 10 turntable, the Nd9 immediately impressed with its ability to extract more information from recordings while maintaining strong imaging and musical enjoyment.
